Unsheathe Your Creative Soul: How to Infuse Life with Creativity (and Maybe Make a Thing or Two)

We all have that Pinterest board overflowing with dream projects or an endless pile of saves on Instagram. Maybe you like to pin hand-knitted scarves, or you dream of creating the perfect succulent garden. Perhaps journalling is your thing, and you pin endless examples of beautiful layouts and brush lettering tutorials.

You’re excellent at saving those things. But why aren’t you doing any of them?

The truth is, creativity isn’t a destination, it’s a journey.

Often we don’t start because we know we’re not at the level of the people whose creations we admire. There’s a big learning curve between the uneven stitches on your last knitting project and the intricate lacework on the shawls you fill your Pinterest board with.

Ira Glass describes this as the “taste gap.” You know what you’re making isn’t as good as what other people are making, and so you get discouraged, maybe you don’t even start.
